AMC has just ordered not only one but two seasons for "The Walking Dead" spinoff series. It looks the network itself has such high expectations for the show. This definitely heightens the anticipation of the fans.
The success of "The Walking Dead," which is currently running its fifth season may clearly be the reason why the spinoff series got a two-season order just like what it did for "Better Call Saul," another promising show. According to CNN, the first season of the spinoff will contain six episodes and will air sometime this summer while the second season will air on 2016 and may be full-length, which means more episodes.
"The Walking Dead" spinoff series takes place in Los Angeles and it will revolve around the lives of the different characters there and let viewers see how the zombie apocalypse is affecting that area as well as the lives of the people left there. Also, it is also a chance for the viewers to see how other characters aside from Rick's crew are dealing with the zombie apocalypse.
According to the official press release for "The Walking Dead" spinoff, via Slashfilm:
"The new series will be set in Los Angeles and focused on new characters and storylines. The show’s first season will consist of six one-hour episodes and premiere on AMC in late summer. The show’s second season will air in 2016."
The cast of the "Walking Dead" spinoff series include Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.
This is such exciting news for fans of "The Walking Dead" who eagerly await how the new characters would play out in the series. There is still no news whether the Los Angeles people and Rick's crew will get to meet each other in the end. That's not impossible, though considering that Rick's crew is hopping from one place to another just to survive.
