Good news DC fans as it looks a new cast member will be joining David Ayer's adaptation of the "Suicide Squad" movie, along with new updates on the script and a new villain.
According Screenrant, "True Blood" star Joe Manganiello has been targeted for the role Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke in the "Suicide Squad" movie due to post from The Latino-Review writer Umberto Gonzales, along with the description of Deathstroke's costume, skills, and role in the film.
Umberto's post also mentioned that Jason Clarke was supposed to get the part but he turn it down due to scheduling conflicts. "RoboCop" star Joel Kinnaman was also hinted for the role of Deathstroke but the producers placed him to be Rick Flagg instead. This led Manganeillo being the only frontrunner for the role as Fashion&Style reportedly claimed that Manganeillo "drop out" from Fox's upcoming horror-comedy TV series "Scream Queens" for the film.
As for Deathstroke's appearance and role in the film, Screenrant said "Deathstroke will be using both blades and bullets in the field – rumored to take down the entire Squad all on his own."
The website further adds that Deathstroke will have both of his eyes in the film departing from its mainstream appearance and his suit will base on actual U.S. military gear.
Deathstroke will play a "hired gun" for the film's main villain Antiphon, leader of a terrorist organization "Onlsaught". Screentrant reportedtly claimed this version will sport a badly burned body, has only one leg and it is said to be Rick Flag Sr.
Ed Harris was previously tied to the character but he quickly addressed the rumors, “I don’t know anything about that," Harris replied.
He further adds, “Joel mentioned that there was something he wanted me to look at, or think about doing, but I don’t know if that was it or not.”
Lastly, Den of Geek has that Ayer will be making some revisions for the script and hopefully make the necessary changes until the film's first shooting on April.
The "Suicide Squad" movie stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as the Joker, Cara Develigne as the Enchantress and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.
The film is part of the DC Cinematic Universe and it will be released in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
