The English actress talked to Total Film magazine about playing the lead actress of the Walt Disney feature set to come out next year.
"I sing, so that's really unexpected," the "Harry Potter" actress shared. "I've never had to do that for a film before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that."
"It gives me a different challenge, really. That's terrifying in and of itself!" the activist added.
Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens will be playing The Beast while Luke Evans joins the cast as Gaston.
Emma Watson confirmed the news of her being part of the Beauty and the Beast cast on her Facebook page in January.
"I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast!" she wrote. "It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx"
It was confirmed by Walt Disney Pictures this month that Dan Stevens and Luke Evans are part of the cast.
Lily James, who plays Cinderella in another Disney live action reboot, gave her "Downton Abbey" co-actor Stevens some encouragement.
"I'm so excited he's playing The Beast! I couldn't believe it! I texted him immediately," the 25-year-old actress shared, according to a report by E Online.
Emma Watson feels that she is ready to take the stage with "Beauty and the Beast."
"It feels like I was building a portfolio over the last five, six years. Now I feel like I'm ready to really be carrying films. I'm really just ready now to focus on my career full time and go full steam ahead," the "Bling Ring" actress said. "It's exciting at the moment."
