Amanda Knox recently reportedly announced her wedding plans with musician fiancé Colin Sutherland.
As the retrial for the Amanda Knox murder case is set for March 25, the former student’s wedding to her musician boyfriend may be delayed if a guilty verdict is made, according to the Christian Post.
Amanda Knox had previously stated that she would “never go willingly” to Italy if a guilty verdict is made. Knox was previously sentenced to serve 28 years and 6 months for the death of her former roommate, Meredith Kercher, according to CBS News.
“I’m going to fight this to the very end,” Knox had stated during an interview with “Good Morning America.”
Knox and Sutherland reportedly met when they were in kindergarten. Although speculation that the couple’s marriage plans may face trouble if a guilty verdict is announced has surfaced, their engagement may stay strong.
Sutherland reportedly wrote to Knox during the four years she was in prison in Italy, and the two renewed their friendship when she returned to the U.S. in 2011. Sutherland has reportedly moved to Seattle from New York to be with Knox.
Amanda Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were reportedly convicted and sentenced for the murder of Kercher back in 2007. Both Sollecito and Knox were reportedly acquitted in 2011 after an appeal judge reversed the decision based on insufficient evidence.
Knox has attempted to make her life as normal as possible after returning to the U.S. She reportedly became a student at the University of Washington and is now working as a reporter in Seattle.
However, Knox has stated that her life may never be what it was like before the murder trial.
“I am a marked person,” explained Knox.
She added, “I don’t even know what my place is anymore. What’s my role in society? Who am I after this? After everyone has branded me, who am I?”
