Italian fashionistas Dolce and Gabbana came under fire from Elton John and other celebs for criticizing gay adoption.
Elton John has called for a boycott of Dolce & Gabbana on Sunday, March 15 after its founders criticized gay adoption and "synthetic children" conceived through in vitro fertilization.
The Italian designers not only called children born of IVF "synthetic" but also said they opposed adoption by same-sex parents, in an interview with Italian news magazine Panorama.
D&G founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana told Panorama that we are born to a mother and a father or at least that is how it should be. The pair further said in the interview that children of chemistry are synthetic children. Semen chosen from a catalog, rented wombs.
Elton John and his husband David Furnish have two children, thanks to a surrogate slammed gay designers Dolce and Gabbana in a scorching Instagram post.
The British pop icon was joined by Ricky Martin, who is father of twins born by a surrogate mother. The "Cup of Life" singer tweeted that Dolce and Gabbana should not spread "so much hate."
He tweeted, "Wake up, Its 2015 Luv urselves guys."
Despite their sexuality, Dolce and Gabbana who were a couple for 23 years before breaking-up in 2005; have previously spoken out against same sex marriage. The pair evoked new rage in a recent interview with Panorama. American weatherman, Al Roker was as outraged as Elton John.
Roker took to his Twitter and wrote despite what Dolce and Gabbana think, his beautiful IVF children are not synthetic children.
According to NYDaily, the two fashionistas said they apologize in case they offended anyone, however, they didn't back down on their views.
In a statement, Gabbana explained it was never their intention to judge other people's choices. He added that they believe in freedom and love. Dolce stated that he was simply expressing his personal views without judging other people's choices. Dolce and Gabbana have put the traditional family in the spotlight of their last two collections.
In order to celebrate motherhood for next winter's womenswear collection, the pair sent a pregnant model and models with their own children down the runway and featured grandmothers with their grandsons for menswear.
