What’s The Real Reason Kathy Griffin Is Leaving Fashion Police?

Comedian Kathy Griffin replaced the late Joan Rivers on “Fashion Police,” but has announced that she would be exiting the E! show after only seven episodes.

Griffin recently opened up about her decision to leave the show during her interview with Howard Stern.

““I don’t really feel it was my best work, I’ll be honest,” explained Griffin, according to Us Magazine.

She added, “I stand by my specials and my series. The lane that that show was in was so specific that they weren’t able to make the transition to the comedic lane that I work in. I just don’t think that it’s really what I do. I think Joan was the master of the one liners and the zingers.”

Griffin had been compared to Joan Rivers during her time on “Fashion Police” as well, according to ABC News.

“And a lot of the press was you know, 'you're no Joan Rivers,' I get it. I never said I was Joan Rivers. I'm just trying to be me, just trying to be Kathy Griffin, do my thing,” explained the 54-year-old comedian.

There had reportedly been claims that “Fashion Police” co-host Kelly Osbourne disapproved of Griffin as Joan Rivers’ replacement, but the stand-up comedian denied those claims.

“I think that part is incorrect, I really do,” stated Griffin.

She continued, “Because I knew Kelly and we’ve been friends and I know Sharon very well. I know that there was a genuine relationship between Kelly and Joan and I would say that Kelly is still you know, grieving and has been very open about that.”

During the recent interview, the redhead reportedly admitted that she “shouldn’t have taken the gig.”

“Melissa [Rivers] was the one who called me and said ‘You’re the only person that I feel my mom would have given her blessing to.’ For me, Fashion Police is not Joan’s legacy. As a 54-year-old female comic still in the game, what Joan did was so much bigger than that,” explained Griffin.
