‘American Horror Story’ Season 5 Casting Rumors: Academy Winner Jessica Lange To Leave The Critically Acclaimed Television Series

Jessica Lange has confirmed on Sunday the long-feared "American Horror Story" season 5 casting rumor. She is packing up and leaving the television series for good.

"Yes, I'm done," the 65-year-old actress relayed, with much difficulty getting the words out during the "American Horror Story: Freak Show" panel at the PaleyFest in LA. "You know, we've had a great run here. I mean, I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play. In all the madness, I've loved the writers and my actors and Ryan [Murphy] and the whole, I mean, insanity of it."

According to Buzz Feed, the Academy award-winning thespian had long said that season 4 of the television series would be her final one, but writer Ryan Murphy had been trying to get her to return for season 5.

"I try not to think about it," Murphy told BuzzFeed News about the "American Horror Story" season 5 casting rumor. "I'm so close to her and I love her and I would be bereft if she left. I'm not even going to pretend that's an option. I'm just going to keep pushing until the door completely slams, and it opened a sliver this week."

"I know what next season is and I pitched her the world and she leaned in a little bit and said, 'Really?' So, never say never," he explained.

Unfortunately, this sliver of hope was officially put to rest on Sunday.

Co-star Sarah Paulson had also been hoping that her good friend would have a change of heart and return for the fifth season of "American Horror Story."

"I can't imagine doing 'American Horror Story' without her," admitted Paulson. "I would be so ill to not be a part of this. I would be over the toilet vomiting if this show was happening and I wasn't a part of it. I don't know what I would do. I would feel like I was missing a limb."

Other "American Horror Story" season 5 casting rumors revealed during the PaleyFest were that Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson and Matt Bomer will be starring in the television series set to premiere in October.
