The mysterious Google-backed VR company, Magic Leap, has released a video showing off its futuristic interface.
A United States startup company that is working on head-mounted devices shocked the tech world and the startup venture capital arena when it secured a whopping $542 million in Series B financing spearheaded by Google last Oct.
CNet noted that the Florida-based company has released its first ever video showing its technology in action. Magic Leap was scheduled to show the same minute-and-a-half clip at the TED conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, this week, however canceled its appearance instead. That cancellation further led to the aura of mystery around Magic Leap, which has yet not revealed its device nor disclosed how its tech functions.
According to TechCrunch, the secretive Florida-based company's new demo shows what it might look like to use its hardware for augmented reality gaming in the future. In the video titled, "Just Another Day In The Office," a user opens a YouTube video and locks it into place above a desk and scrolls through a packed Gmail inbox and then swipes the app away to close it.
The interface displays a carousel-style navigation menu that can be easily flicked left and right.
The video was posted alongside an apology for the company's absence at TED. Magic Lead's chief executive Rony Abovitz was scheduled to present a talk at this year's TED conference, but canceled. At the same time, an AMA with one of the startup's key game developers was also canceled unexpectedly.
Tech as well as entertainment industry giants such as Google and Legendary Entertainment are backing Magic Leap leading to a lot of hype.
Although the company is not disclosing whether the video is just concept, or an illustration of live software running on its platform, Magic Leap did confirm to TechCrunch that it is the source of the YouTube upload.
