Will "The Mindy Project" get cancelled or renewed? The season 3 episode finale, called "Best Man" just aired with a 2.1 million total viewers and 0.8 rating. The only question is, will the ratings be enough to secure a season 4?

As previously reported by Bustle, "The Mindy Project" might be cancelled because of its continuous low ratings. It is said that the series had been "struggling" for three years and was "on the bubble" at the end of each season. Miraculously, the series had been renewed for season 2 and season 3. Despite the low ratings, creator Mindy Kaling is still hopeful of a possible renewal.

In an interview with EW's Jessica Shaw and Melissa Maerz on SiriusXM Radio, Kaling remains optimistic of the series' future.

"I just don't think this is the end for the cast. I feel me and the writers have so many stories to tell, and I just have a good feeling that it's going to come back," she said.

If there would be a season 4 for "The Mindy Project," Mindy Kaling revealed that the story would focus more on Danny and Mindy's relationship as a couple and as parents. She said that viewers can expect a lot of hilarious banter between him and Chris Messina.

"Danny as a father is really something to think about writing-I love that. And Mindy on maternity leave, Mindy on the playground with other moms. There's so many things! And I feel like the way we see it portrayed on TV-to have it be funny and not have it be tragic-I'm really excited," she said.

It's still uncertain whether "The Mindy Project" will be cancelled or renewed. Inquistr, however, pointed out that there are a lot of signs that indicate that the series would come back for a fourth season. Perhaps fans will be able to see how Danny and Mindy will be able to raise their baby in the forthcoming episodes.
