In the explosive season 1 finale of "Empire" viewers were kept at the edge of their seats wondering what would happen next after the patriarch had been sent to prison. In an recent interview, the series executive producer revealed some spoilers that fans can expect in the upcoming episode.
Speaking to E! Online, executive producer Ilene Chaiken revealed some major "Empire" season 2 spoilers.
"I'm excited to see what Cookie does with her new status, especially in the absence of Lucious, however long he's absent. One of her main drives has been to bring her family back together, and she suffered a bit of a setback. She lost her relationship with her most beloved son, and I want to see how Cookie resolves that or regains her relationship with Jamal," Chaiken revealed.
In the last episode, it was revealed that Jamal (Jussue Smollet) had been chosen by Lucious (Terence Howard) as heir of his kingdom. Revealing some "Empire" season 2 spoilers, Chaiken said that fans of Lucious might not have to wait long before he's finally back. She said that Lucious will remain an important character in the upcoming episodes.
"Terrence Howard is really important to all of us and to the show. The plan was never to do 'Empire' with Terrence for just a year or two. We discussed the possibility of telling that story, to keep him alive for a long time and deal with the struggles of his illness, but the truth is the creators always had in mind that it was a misdiagnosis," Chaikan said.
Meanwhile, another exciting storyline that fans must look out for is that between Andre (Trai Byers) and Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday).
"We love that Andre-Rhonda dynamic, and whether they're coming back together in the way they were before, or whether they have to renegotiate their relationship, is really interesting to us," the executive producer revealed.
