"Vikings" season 3 spoilers revealed that the Vikings would continue their conquest of Paris in the forthcoming episodes. The Parisian army prepares for battle and the entire city is put on lockdown in episode 8, "To The Gates."
The Vikings raid on Paris is one of the most awaited moments of the show. According to "Vikings" season 3 spoilers from Ecumerical News, episode 8, the Vikings will finally begin their siege on the city.
It was widely speculated that the previous episode would be the one to feature their raid on Paris. However, it only showed their preparations for the aforementioned siege. The episode also showed Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) inventing a device that would help them scale the city's walls. "Vikings" season 3, episode 7 ended with chants and war cries as the Vikings prepare for battle.
The second most anticipated story arc of the episode, next to the Paris raid, is Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) transformation after the death of his close friend and spiritual guide, Athelstan (George Blagden).
Reports from Enstarz have stated that the character of Ragnar will become darker due to the death of Athelstan.
"Athelstan's death is going to have a huge impact psychologically and in other ways. We don't necessarily see that immediately, but certainly when he gets to France. He becomes a slightly different, slightly darker man," series creator Michael Hirst said.
"In the immediate aftermath, he's going to mourn his friend and consequently be a lonely figure. It's a desolate thing to happen to him."
According to The International Business Times, Ragnar may take his revenge on Floki for killing Athelstan. Ragnar's retaliation on Floki may be shown in the episode "To The Gates!"
