"Human Centipede 3: Final Sequence" was expected to be released some time in 2014, but the year came to a close without so much as trailer for the horror film. Now, not only has a trailer finally been released, the official release date for the film has also been announced.

According to reports from Entertainment Weekly, "Human Centipede 3" is to be released on May 22, 2015 to select cinemas and video on demand.

The official trailer for "Human Centipede 3: Full Sequence" was released last April 9, 2015. The trailer shows prison warden Bill Boss (Dieter Laser), along with his right-hand man Dwight Butler (Laurence R. Harvey, who played Martin Lomax in "Human Centipede 2: Half Sequence), creates a 500-person human centipede.

In the film, the human centipede experiment serves as punishment for inmates who continue to break prison rules and as a deterrent for anyone attempting to turn to a life of crime. The trailer finishes with the series' now notorious tagline, "100% politically incorrect."

According to the film's synopsis, various failed attempts at controlling unruly prisoners and the high temperatures in the prison have caused Bill Boss to become insane. Under the fear of termination from the governor, he is inspired by the original "Human Centipede" film to create a 500-person human centipede as a punishment.

The experiment, if successful, will change the American prison system for good and will save the government billions of dollars.

Director Tom Six plans this to be the last film in the series. In a previous interview with Indiewire, Six revealed that he always had a fascination with creating "disgusting" horror films.

"I really wanted to create an uncomfortable feeling throughout the whole film. This was really my vision. I would never make a film with a guy carrying an axe, or a film about ghosts. It really must have something very original. I would never make a film about ghosts because there are so many of them. I think this film has been so successful because it has a new idea, something that sparks people's minds. A horror film about ghosts? You've seen it already," he said.
