The "Captain Marvel" movie may not be coming out until 2018, but various news articles have already been released about it.
"Captain Marvel" is set to be Marvel's first female-fronted superhero film, despite the fact that Black Widow has been featured prominently in the Iron Man, Captain America, and Avengers films.
According to an article from Collider, Angelina Jolie is being pegged to direct Marvel's first ever female-fronted film, "Captain Marvel."
Jolie directed "Unbroken," which was released the previous year to much acclaim.
However, Collider's credibility is under scrutiny because they also linked Jolie to directing the film adaptation for DC Comic's "Wonder Woman." Collider reported that Brad Pitt's wife has replaced Michelle MacLaren as the director just hours prior to the confirmation that Patty Jenkins has taken the job.
The Hollywood Reporter has recently released a report about the writers who are being pinned for the "Captain Marvel" movie.
Nicole Perlman, co-writer of "Guardians of the Galaxy," and Meg LaFauve, co-writer of Pixar's upcoming film "Inside Out" have reportedly agreed to write the screenplay for the movie.
Reports courtesy of Bad Ass Digest, have stated that Joss Whedon had shot FX plates to be used in "Captain Marvel" movie while he was on set filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
It has been reported that Captain Marvel had a cameo in early versions of the "Age of Ultron" script, but her part was eventually cut out.
According to the article, Captain Marvel was very close to making an appearance, with Whedon even filming FX plates to have her fly into the Avengers headquarters at the end of the movie.
Unfortunately, she was replaced by another character along the line's of the movie's development.
