"The Girl on the Train" book by Paula Hawkins continues to hold the top spot in the U.S. bestseller list. The English thriller even outsold "The Da Vinci Code" in terms of hardback sales.
Often dubbed "the new Gone Girl", Hawkins revealed that her thriller novel will soon be made into a movie by DreamWorks.
According to Book Page, "The Girl on the Train" book is pitched to be turned into a major motion picture movie by DreamWorks soon.
"It's very exciting, yet I'm trying to not be too excited," she said.
"These things take a really long time. It could be years, it may not happen. It feels unreal. I haven't cast Rachel. Possibly because she's not beautiful, and it's impossible to find not-beautiful actors."
According to The Guardian, "The Girl on the Train" by Paula Hawkins sold more than 122,000 hardbacks since it was released in the UK in January 15. It holds the title of UK's "fastest-selling books" when it sold 16,157 copies just last week.
It was even on the list of the 20 best selling fiction hardbacks published since 2012. At the 16th spot, "The Girl on the Train" is a slot ahead of Donna Tartt's "The Goldfinch" and was set to outsell J.K. Rowling's "The Cuckoo's Calling."
Meanwhile, in the US, "The Girl on the Train" sold 380,000 book copies with ebooks selling over 1 million copies.
"Even The Da Vinci Code was not so massive in hardback," said Alison Barrow from Doubledy, via The Guardian.
"It was in paperback that it really took off, and with The Da Vinci Code it absolutely started in the US. This is a hardback from a pretty unknown writer [and] it feels quite exceptional."
"The Girl on the Train" is about a commuter who got obsessed with a couple who she often sees on the train and up to a point that she feels like she already personally know these people.
Many fans have called Paula Hawking's book the "new Gone Girl".
