Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have previously worked together on two films, the first being "Crazy, Stupid Love" and the next one being "Gangster Squad."
According to reports, the pair is set to star in "La La Land," a musical movie directed by "Whiplash" director Damien Chazelle.
Reports claimed that "Whiplash's" Miles Teller was in pole position to be the male lead, but the deal didn't go through exactly as planned. Emma Watson was pegged to be the film's female lead, but unfortunately she is currently tied down with "Beauty and the Beast."
The Wrap has also made claims that Eddie Redmayne of "The Theory of Everything" fame may be cast in the role, but he may end up doing the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts" instead.
Several reports claimed that Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling may snag the lead role in "La La Land." It was mentioned that although the cast has not been finalized as "all sides are working to make this [dream casting] happen."
Chazelle's description of the movie states,:
"I'd like to make a contemporary musical about L.A., starting with the L.A. we know but slowly building to a vision of the city as romantic metropolis-one that is actually worthy of the dreams it inspires. I'd like to make a musical about the way L.A.'s peculiar rhythms can push its residents to the edge of their emotions-be they hope, desperation or love. Think the kind of teetering-toward-madness you see in 'The Graduate' or 'Boogie Nights', and imagine if you were to push that further. In this case, the city pushes its residents all the way: it pushes them into song."
If Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling would agree to making "La La Land" the film could begin shooting this fall under Lionsgate.
