The much-awaited "House of Wolves" DLC will do away with Crucible Commendations and Vanguard, besides adding new upgrade materials, consumables and currencies to the mix.

While the "House of Wolves" DLC is slated to add new stuff, the DLC will also deliver a few others obsolete, according to GameRant.

The forthcoming major Destiny update will put an end to Vanguard and Crucible Commendations, thus clearing more space in player's vaults. Commendations was yet another currency added by Bungie via Destiny's "Dark Below" DLC.

Community manager, DeeJ in Bungie Weekly Update wrote, "When the House of Wolves is released into the wild to howl at the moon, Update 1.2.0 will deliver the changes to progression economy that we detailed in the reveal stream."

DeeJ added that Commendations are one more elements to the upgrade path for player's Guardian that Bungies is changing. DeeJ revealed that they are going away and players will no longer need them to acquire new weapons or gear.

That said, players who have a bunch of Commendations stockpiled can burn them for reputation. Gaining reputation will reportedly speed the players toward their next promotion, thus earning them another reward package.

"To prosper and equip yourself with new stuff, just earn Marks!" wrote DeeJ.

Starting with the next "Destiny" update, players will finally be able to take their Commendations and trade them in for either Crucible or Vanguard Reputation. Moreover, any further Reputation level will no longer deliver Commendations. While it's great to see that Bungie is actually listening to fans and making changes, it's also confusing why the Commendations were added in the first place.

The good news for players is that Bungie has heard complaints about upgrade materials and they are adding changes to improve those systems, as well.

With the "House of Wolves" DLC, The Speaker will offer an exchange system through which players can trade their upgrade materials (such as Motes of Light, energy and shards) for different types of upgrade materials, or they can exchange them for Glimmer.
