Nikki Reed couldn't help but giggle during the post-wedding pictorial as she tied the knot with Ian Somerhalder in a hush-hush ceremony in Santa Monica, California on Sunday.

E! News reported that the couple, known for their humanitarian efforts, asked their wedding guests to donate instead to their organization working on animal rescue.

"Paparazzi photos from the ceremony began to circulate on Twitter early Monday morning," said the report. "The cute couple's nuptials come about nine months after they first started dating and almost four months after they got engaged."

Nikki Reed wore a backless gown for the wedding while Ian Somerhalder wore a white suit in the garden wedding.

"At one point Ian carried his bride down a muddy slope so that her dress didn't get dirty, before they shared a sweet kiss among their gathered friends and relatives," said Daily Mail.

"He was seen carefully picking up the train of her dress to protect it from the floor as the couple held hands - at one point, he dutifully tucked her hair behind her ear as they had their photos taken."

During the wedding pictorial, Nikki Reed giggled probably out of embarrassment or happiness as she's now finally married to Ian Somerhalder after her divorce to "American Idol" alum Paul McDonald was finalized recently.

Their love for animals is what brought them together, Nikki Reed shared.

In an interview with People, Nikki Reed said, "I did a horse film about a year ago and I literally couldn't separate myself from two of the horses. They became like my family and I couldn't say goodbye. I'm so lucky that Ian and I are on the same page with animals. We made [adopting the horses] happen together."

Talking about husband Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed gushed, "Honestly just the endless possibilities, you know? We have such an amazing future ahead of us and anything we put our minds to will become a reality. I'm just excited for all those possibilities."
