The past couple of days have been hard for fans of legendary rocker Joni Mitchell because of conflicting reports that she was in coma and her recovery is unlikely.
The whole confusion started when Joni Mitchell's friend, Leslie Morris, filed court documents for guardianship on Tuesday, citing that the hall of famer was in coma.
Attached to the petition was the assessment of Dr. Paul Vespa which stated that, "At this time (Mitchell) remains unconscious and unable to make any responses, and is therefore unable to provide for any of her personal needs."
"Within hours, Mitchell's official website stated that 'She comprehends, she's alert and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected,'" Fox News reported.
But there seems to be no ulterior motive for Leslie Morris' petition as it didn't claim control of Joni Mitchell's finances because she's allegedly in a coma.
"Mitchell's website states Morris' filing seeks to get authority to make decisions for the singer once she leaves the hospital and is isn't under the 24 hour care of a doctor," Fox added. "A court hearing on the filing is scheduled for July 8."
TMZ first reported that story about Joni Mitchell being rushed to the hospital on March 31 after she was found to be unconscious inside her home in Los Angeles. She was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center.
"Joni, whose hits include 'Big Yellow Taxi,' is not responsive to anything. The documents say she's 'so impaired as to be incapable of being assessed,'" TMZ reported.
Joni Mitchell's website went on to clarify the coma report as it said, "The document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her long-time friend Leslie Morris the authority - in the absence of 24-hour doctor care - to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital.
"As we all know, Joni is a strong-willed woman and is nowhere near giving up the fight," the statement added.
