Destiny's "House of Wolves" is slated to bring the first-person shooter game's newest mode.
Bungie on April 29 revealed the first details on Destiny's newest game mode titled, "Trials of Osiris." The developer described it on it's website as:
"Guardians who have proven their worth may enter the Trials of Osiris, where they will face the Crucible's ultimate test of teamwork and skill."
The upcoming game mode is slated to come in Destiny's second expansion, "House of Wolves," next month.
"Trials of Osiris" will be a new multi-player PvP mode, in which two teams comprising of three players each, battle each other in a new game type called Elimination, according to Polygon.
3 V 3 Elimination Mode
There are no respawns in Elimination. Bungie's Derek Carroll noted that your teammate has to revive you. Further hinting at the difficulty level, he said it is "the most intense mode we've made."
Matches in "Trials of Osiris" are time-limited i.e. just 2 minutes, and in case games go into overtime, a central capture point becomes available and whoever captures that point wins.
If the whole team is down, the round is over.
The Eye of Osiris
A new character known as Brother Vance will serve as the emissary for "Trials of Osiris." Brother Vance holds vigil at the Reef, awaiting the arrival of Guardians who are all set to accept the challenge of the Trials. Only Brother Vance can allocate players a Passage to the Trials of Osiris, which will track player's wins and losses. Once players rack up nine wins or three losses, they can return the completed Passage to him for rewards they've earned through their wins.
Players who fail three rounds in "Trials of Osiris" will have to start over with a new Passage. However, players can purchase Passage coins that either count their first wins as two wins or forgive their first loss.
The Golden Path
Players can also earn a new material called Etheric Light (and in the monthly Iron Banner event), which can then be utilized to ascend weapons. Players can buy special Buffs to ease their paths through the Trials. In addition, players can earn Trials Coins by playing Daily featured Crucible playlists and a chance to receive them as post-game rewards elsewhere in the Crucible. But that's not going to be easy.
"We'll find you enemies, but we're not gonna find you friends," Carroll said.
Players who find victory in the "Trials of Osiris" will be rewarded gear fitting humanity's greatest hope.
"Trials of Osiris" will be available on a weekly basis, from Friday at 10 a.m. PT until the weekly reset on Tuesday.
