In a bid to maintain its position in the Indian smartphone segment and compete with rivals such as Samsung Electronics, Xiaomi and Lenovo, Micromax launched the Unite 3 Q372 smartphone with support for multiple Indian languages.

Expanding its Unite series, Micromax launched the Unite 3 Q372 smartphone, the successor to the Unite 2 from 2014. The device is listed on the company's site and is also available via a third-part retailer Infibeam for a price of Rs 6,569.

According to FirstPost, the available shipping time for the smartphone is 1 to 2 days and the official launch is expected soon.

The official site states that the Micromax Unite 3 will come with a free bundled data offer from Vodafone offering up to 500MB (2G/3G) of free data per month for the first two months.

Just like its predecessors, the Unite 3 also supports multiple languages and comes preloaded with support for ten regional languages, which is its biggest USP. The smartphone encompasses a new feature that allows users translate a message from English to the language of choice and vice versa, NDTV Gadgets noted.

Micromax Unite 3 Q372 Specifications

Micromax Unite 3 is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box. It sports a 4.7-inch (480x800 pixels) WVGA IPS display. The Unite 3 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek (MTK6582M) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

In addition, the device features a 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. It sports an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, and there is a secondary 2MP fixed-focus front camera on board as well.

Connectivity

As far as the connectivity is concerned the Unite 3 offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth options. It packs a 2000mAh battery, which according to the official listing is rated to deliver up to 8 hours of talktime and up to 220 hours of standby time. Furthermore, the device also includes light, gravity, and proximity sensors, according to TimesOfIndia.

Applications

Micromax Unite 3 comes preloaded with an array of apps including SwiftKey, Snapdeal, Quicker, Paytm, Newshunt, Hotstar, Facebook Messenger, Facebook, Clean Master, Chaatz and Ask me.

The Unite 3 comes in two colors, white and blue.

With rival smartphone makers like Xiaomi and Lenovo getting more and more aggressive in India, it's obvious that Micromax's task is not getting any easier. Recent reports reveal that Micromax lost a great deal of market share to not only Samsung, but also to emerging brands that have started flooding the Indian market with more cost-effective options than what other domestic brands including Micromax were offer so far.
