"Mob Wives" star Big Ang has recently opened up about her throat cancer surgery. After the successful procedure that removed a lemon-sized tumor in her throat, the reality star reveals how her cancer diagnosis changed her life.
Speaking to New York Daily News, the "Mob Wives" star opened up about her 8-hour long throat surgery. Previously, Big Ang thought that her condition was nothing but a sore throat but turns out it was more serious than that. The doctors immediately decided that the tumor has to be removed as soon as possible, or it would kill her by suffocation.
"I feel like I'm in 'The Twilight Zone. I can't even believe that one day I'm fine and the next day I have Stage 2 throat cancer," she revealed.
"Mob Wives" star Big Ang said that she originally thought that she was just in need of some new antibiotics. She decided to see the doctor when she could no longer tolerate the pain.
In the next month, Big Ang will reportedly undergo another surgery to remove her lymp nodes on the right side. The website reported that if cancer cells were to be found in those nodes, radiation treatments will commence. The operation was said to leave a deep scar across her neck from one ear to the next. When asked if Big Ang will consider plastic surgery to cover the scars, here's what she said:
"I am not one for surgery. Plastic surgery? OK, 20 years ago. But as I got older, I got scared. I hate anesthesia."
Big Ang reportedly lost 20 pounds since the surgery since she can only eat soft foods like yogurt and apple sauce. She said that even drinking water proved to be difficult.
"You have to hold your breath, swallow, cough and then swallow again," she said.
