Classic mobile game fans rejoice! The original Nokia Snake game creator, Taneli Armanto is set to return with a modern retake on the much-loved classic game.

Those who owned a cellphone in the early 2000s or late '90s might remember the game where player maneuvers a line which grows in length, with the line itself being the main obstruction.

The game title, "Snake," was preloaded on Nokia mobile phones and Taneli Armanto, who brought the game to Nokia phones in 1997, has announced that the classic game is in the works for modern smartphones, dubbed "Snake Rewind," according to TheTimesOfIndia.

Eighteen years later after the original game was released, Armanto in collaboration with Rumilus Design is recreating the classic fan-favorite game.

Players do a lot more in Snake Rewind than just collect a fruit represented as a dot on old Nokia phones. Screenshots of the game reveals players collecting multiple dots and powerups to get the highest score possible, DigitalTrends noted.

The press release said, "Created together with Rumilus Design, Snake Rewind takes the iconic elements and intuitive gameplay from the original Snake game and combines them with cool visual effects, sounds, and innovative new features."

Unlike the original game where if the players crashed into a wall or into their own tail, the game over, in Snake Rewind, players can rewind the snake after crashing to continue the game. In addition, players can get powerups including the Score Multiplier, Trailblazer and the Fruit Magnet. There will be a "fruit store" where boosters along with other items can be purchased and upgraded for use in the game.

There will 10 levels with their own visuals and music that can be unlocked by completing demanding missions. But that's not all; players can now compete against their friends and rest of the world for the highest score, thanks to the Internet.

Snake Rewind will be available Thursday, May 14 on iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

The game is free to download and will includes in-app purchases.
