"The Last of Us" movie might still be in its very early days of production but news about the adaptation have started circulating online.
Speaking to Digital Spy, "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams revealed that plot of "The Last of Us" movie has been discussed with writer Neil Druckmann and producer Sam Raimi.
"The actual film, the making of the film, the script and everything is in very, very early days. It was announced sort of prematurely almost in that I would love to play Ellie, they would love me to play Ellie," she shared.
"We spoke about the possibility of me playing Elle and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to. There's no film happening at this very second, so I cannot play Ellie right at this very minute. But when that comes around - if and when that comes around - I'll be here."
Maisie Williams added that she used to play "The Last of Us" with her brothers so playing the role of Ellie is something that she looks forward to doing.
"When boys play video games, you get this image of them all shouting at each other and swearing at each other," she said.
"[But with The Last of Us], everyone's like, 'Shh, shh, shh, you've got to listen to this bit. It's really important', and I love that."
As previously reported by VC Post, screenwriter Neil Druckman recently revealed that a table read for the movie has already been done.
"I just finished the second draft and we did a table read with a bunch of actors and that's where we're at."
It was mentioned that the film will "veer from certain aspects of the game's narrative" however, it fans of "The Last of Us" should not be disappointed as most of the elements will still be retained.
"The Last of Us" movie is rumored to be released in 2016.
