The makeover is a staple in k-drama plots. A girl who is considered less than attractive gets a new hairdo, stylish clothes and some make-up and suddenly the hero-and the world-can see what a beauty she truly is.
But in order to have that makeover work, some beautiful and glamorous actresses have to first get a reverse makeover. That is, they need to get a bad haircut, bad make-up and frumpy clothes. Here are five times that some favorite actresses got the reverse makeover.
IU looks sophisticated and sexy playing the k-pop princess Cindy in the upcoming drama "The Producers" but she had a reverse makeover in "Dream High" and did not look her best in "Pretty Man." To play the overweight performing arts student in "Dream High," she had to wear a fat suit. And her wardrobe choices in "Pretty Man" were cute but hardly flattering.
Gong Hyo Jin has no problem with looking her worst. In "The Master's Sun" she wandered around in a ghost-like nightgown, looking like an escapee from an asylum. But it's hardly a first for the normally stylish and well-groomed actress. She had frizzy hair and dowdy clothes when she played the anti-heroine in the film "Crush and Blush." She stopped shaving her armpits for the film "Love Fiction."
Lee Chung Ah dresses neatly but oddly enough when her character is a school teacher in "Flower Boy Ramen Shop" but Jung Il Woo only falls in love with her after seeing her all sweaty and disheveled playing volley ball. To him she glitters. Although she pulls her look together later in the drama, it's the sweaty Lee Chung Ah he remembers.
Son Ye Jin is a carpenter/furniture designer in "Personal Taste" so it makes sense that she dresses for comfort. But her comfy style veers into the quirky. While Lee Min Ho becomes her best friend and boyfriend in spite of this, he does ask her at least once if she is going out "dressed like that"
Which of these reverse makeovers do you think made the actress look the worst? Let us know.
