The new KBS drama "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" aired for the first time giving viewers and critics an insight of how successful the drama will be in the near future. To their disappointment, many viewers found the drama not meeting their expectations.
The KBS drama "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" that aired March 10 featured Lee Soon Shin (IU) meeting with representatives from an entertainment company that wants to sign a contract with her. The episode also featured the family members and their reactions to Lee Soon Shin's career path.
Right after the first episode aired, viewers began to comment on the story, actors and the most important character Lee Soon Shin very critically. The relationship between IU and actor Jo Jung Suk in the drama was very much in the spotlight.
In order for "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" to follow in the footsteps of previously aired KBS weekend dramas like, "You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly" and "My Daughter Seo Young", which were both extremely successful. An important aspect of a drama's success is about how well the actors portray their characters and their emotions.
Also, since more percentage of viewers account for the female population in Korea, the main male character plays an extremely important role in the success of the drama. In KBS dramas like, "You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly" and "My Daughter Seo Young", gorgeous male characters Yoo Joon Sang, Lee Hee Joon, Lee Sang Yoon and Park Hae Jin enchanted their female viewers. Therefore there is a lot of pressure on Jo Jung Suk's shoulders.
In the drama "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin", Jo Jung Suk plays the role of a CEO of an entertainment company. The character seems cool and intelligent but in reality, he is full of imperfections. Actor Jo Jung Suk has successfully pulled off all the roles he had taken on in works like the movie "Introduction to Architecture" and the drama "The King Two Hearts". Through his roles in those works, he has accumulated a large number of fans.
To their disappointment however, the viewers found Jo Jung Suk lacking in the first episode of "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin". Unlike the way he captivated his viewers in his previous works, he failed to get their attention this time.
The bigger problem is that his role in "You're the Best Lee Soon Shin" is too similar to his role in the movie "Introduction to Architecture" so he is currently unable to bring Shin Joon Ho to life.
It also seems as though he is stressed out from the pressure of "You're the Beset Lee Soon Shin" being his first attempt at his first weekend drama.
With all the critiques from critics and viewers, we'll just have to keep watching to see how successful this drama will turn out to be.
