Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed's honeymoon is over and they touched down at the Los Angeles Airport with matching hats on Saturday.

They recently returned from a romantic honeymoon through South America, and it appears newlyweds Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder have adapted well to life on-the-go.

The newlyweds have been touring South America after they exchanged vows on April 26 in an intimate ceremony attended by a few close friends and family.

Ian Somerhalder posted a sweet message for his wife on Twitter as he wrote, "Happy birthday to the most incredible woman I've ever known... HAPPY BIRTHDAY @NikkiReed_I_Am The world is better because you are in it!!!!!"

"I meant the most incredible human I've ever known...;)" he quickly added.

The "Vampire Diaries" actor also posted on Instagram a photo of him bending on his knee as he presented the "Twilight" actress a cupcake with a single candle on it. He captioned the image, "Happy Birthday my love. Me and the world celebrate you and hope all of your dreams come true. I'm in awe of your compassion to create positive change in the world..."

Judging by their clothes, the whole scene played out on Saturday right after touching down at the LAX.

Ian Somerhalder has been using Instagram and Twitter about his wife, Nikki Reed, as well as advance their respective and joint advocacies for the protection of animals and the environment.

Nikki Reed earlier dished to E! News about their plans for her birthday party.

"We are planning a little birthday BBQ so something is happening, literally flying in for it," she said.

"You know, I don't get to spend as much time with my family as I'd like so I try to make it such a priority. Any form of a celebration, whether it's a birthday or holiday or whatever it is, we try to all get together."
