Viewers are not exactly sure how the relationship between Gong Hyo Jin and Kim Soo Hyun will shape up in "Producers." Gong plays a veteran producer and Kim plays a rookie. Her character lives with Cha Tae Hyun and despite their claim to be only lifelong friends, there's more to their relationship. Will there be a romantic element in the onscreen relationship between the 35-year-old Gong Hyo Jin and the 27-year-old Kim Soo Hyun?
The drama is not following any tried and true k-drama formulas so anything could yet happen.
It seems more likely that the characters played by Jang Nara, 35, and Seo In Guk, 27, will have a noona romance in the upcoming drama "I Remember You," also known as "Hello Monster."
The rom-com/crime thriller features Seo In Guk as a charismatic criminal profiler and Jang Nara as a special investigator who is mysteriously stalking someone. Seo and Jang will definitely have a relationship in this story. Seo In Guk had a romance with 32-year-old Lee Ha Na last year when they played a couple in "The King of High School Savvy."
Noona romances have become the norm these days, with at least one airing at any given time. Viewers have mostly positive but occasionally mixed feelings about them. When we asked our readers how they felt about noona pairings, most loved them and think age shouldn't matter when you are in love.
"As long as they love each other then age may not be a hindrance to a wonderful relationship," said Maria Ricyrna Ilanga on the Kdramastars Facebook page.
Emily Dills said "If men can date younger women why can't there be the reverse?"
Maybe it works better if the age difference is not played up so much. Jun Ji Hyun, 33, was also older than Kim Soo Hyun in "You Who Came From The Stars" but the script did not make a big deal out of it. And technically Kim Soo Hyun was playing a 400-year-old alien, who just happened to look like someone in his 20s.
The age difference may also work best if it is within 10 years. On our Facebook page, Tintin Barillo said that she thought the romance between 25-year-old Lee Jong Suk and 36-year-old Lee Bo Young in "I Hear Your Voice" was "kinda gross."
Facebook visitor Princess Tini Neferua likes them all.
"Hoping to see some new ones in the near future," she said, "But it would be nice if the new drama, "Producer," turns out that way."
