Ace golfer Rory McIlroy has been playing great since his split from Caroline Wozniacki who will be heading to the Aegon International in Eastbourne next month.

Rory McIlroy told Daily Mail Sports that he was able to focus more on his game since being single.

"It has been a very deliberate policy, to be honest," he said. "What is it they say about learning from your mistakes? This is the way I want it from now on. I want to be known for my golf and that's it."

"So let's hope I can continue to give you guys good stuff to write about on the course," he added.

According to the British publication, Rory McIlroy has hit a winning streak lately "with two majors, two WGCs and Europe's flagship event among seven wins since ending his engagement."

For her part, Caroline Wozniacki hit a losing streak since dumping Rory McIlroy but she only raised her game recently.

Currently, she's ranked no. 5 in the ATP behind BFF Serena Williams at no. 1, Maria Sharapova at second place, Simona Halep at third and Petra Kvitova at fourth.

Caroline Wozniacki told the New York Times right after her split with Rory McIlroy, "I don't want to have my name stuck with him forever. I'm my own person. I have my own career. The years we had together were great, and unfortunately, things had to end like they did."

"I know what I want out of a relationship in the future and what I don't want. I'm happy being single right now," she said.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy's ex, Caroline Wozniacki, is also looking to carve her name in the annals of women's tennis.

Tournament director Gavin Fletcher said, "We are delighted with this year's player field for the Aegon International. Once again some of the best players in the world have chosen to make their final preparations for Wimbledon on the grass courts at Devonshire Park."
