Originally in development for PlayStation 3, upcoming horror title "Until Dawn" will now release for PlayStation 4 in August.
On Tuesday, May 26, PlayStation Blog announced the release date for "Until Dawn." Developed by Supermassive Games, the narrative-focused horror game entered the final stages in the run up to release. The developer even announced a new cast member, Swedish actor Peter Stormare, who is best known for playing Gaear Grimsrud in the film "Fargo" (1996) and TV series "Prison Break."
Stormare has lent his voice to titles including "The Elders Scrolls Online" and "Destiny," according to records on Polygon.
Pete Samuels, Executive Producer, Supermassive Games said on the PlayStation Blog that "[Stormare] gave some incredibly powerful performances in the motion capture studio and you can tell from the end result in the game that he had some fun with the character."
Along with Stormare, "Until Dawn" stars "Heroes" actress Hayden Panettiere alongside others. Moreover, the actors' likenesses appear in the game besides their voices.
The upcoming game is set at a deserted mountain where everything is more than meets the eye. Eight friends try to stay alive with a killer on the loose. Players determine the relationship between the characters via dialogue and experience the night from their unique point of view.
Written in association with renowned horror writers and directors Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, the game is all about finding out who will survive "Until Dawn."
Players who are itching to get their hands on "Until Dawn" and play from day one can pre-order it here. Those who pre-order will also be able unlock a free special bonus scene that sees Matt and Emily, a new couple, out on the mountain - but they soon realize they are not alone.
"Until Dawn" is slated to be released Aug. 25 on PlayStation 4. Watch the new trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive horror game Until Dawn.
