UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo's coach, Pedro Rizzo, said that though Conor McGregor's performances have been impressive, he hasn't yet stepped into octagon with a fighter of Aldo's quality.
Jose Aldo hasn't been beaten in 10 years, but he won't be underestimating his next opponent, Conor "The Notorious" McGregor, according to his coach Pedro Rizzo.
Aldo is slated to square off against McGregor on Saturday, July 11, at UFC 189. Rizzo is currently preparing Aldo for the highly-publicized title defense - Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor.
Rizzo, who is a former UFC heavyweight title challenger admitted that Aldo's camp have been impressed by McGregor's performances, however, he believes that the Irish mixed martial artist has yet to face a combatant of Aldo's caliber, according to records on The 42.
"I expect a very tough fight. Aldo said that McGregor is the real deal, he's the real deal. He's not bullshit. [Aldo] is training hard, he's training very, very hard," Rizzo said.
He further added, "But I think Jose Aldo can go to a place that McGregor's never been. [Aldo] has had big battles in the ring. His last fight against Chad Mendes, he didn't control the fight. He had no moments that he controlled the fight, but he kept fighting."
Talking about the mega fight, Rizzo added, "We never see McGregor out of control. We saw him controlling everybody. So I think Jose Aldo will bring something that McGregor doesn't know. I think Aldo's going to take McGregor to places that he's never been."
It's no secret, Jose ldo doesn't like Conor McGregor.
In a UFC.com exclusive interview, "The Download" with Dana White, the UFC boss opened up about the upcoming Aldo vs. McGregor fight, noting that the current UFC featherweight champion "hates" his next opponent, according to MMA News.
"Jose Aldo hates Conor McGregor and Conor McGregor just wants what Jose Aldo has," said White to UFC.com. "If you take what Jose Aldo has accomplished and the excitement that Conor McGregor brings - it's made this division really fun."
White further added, "Conor has come into the UFC and basically done everything he said he was going to do. Now the question is: Can he beat Jose Aldo?"
