Kevin Owens finally made his much-anticipated main roster match debut at Elimination Chamber as he faced John Cena in a Champion vs. Champion bout.

Talking about the upcoming match, the reigning NXT champion, Owens had told The Whig, "There's no denying how big it is. There's not a whole lot of people that walk into WWE, show up on RAW, lay out the top guy in the industry for the last 10 years and get to wrestle him two weeks later at a major event like Elimination Chamber, but I get to do that. "

"That will literally never be taken away from me, no matter what happens from here on out," Owens told the site.

While rumors doing rounds hinted that Owens is also scheduled to make an appearance at the Battleground event in July, he began feuding with John Cena after he answered his US Open Challenge a few weeks ago on RAW and pop-up powerbombed the then United States champion.

Taking control early on, Owens used brute force as well as a methodical pace of attack in order to get the edge on Cena. The NXT champion took control early but Cena tried to come back and hit him with an AA but Owens wiggled and planted him a DDT instead to stay in control, Fansided noted.

The NXT champ's arrogance almost caused him the match when Cena sprung up and tried to get a roll-up pin. This angered Owens and as a result, he went back on the offensive after the attempted pin by Cena.

Cena was able to hit Owens with the Five-Knuckle Shuffle despite the punishment from Owens. Cena went for an AA but Owens countered and sent Cena off the ropes for the pop-up powerbomb. However, Cena kicked out after two-count.

Owens was able to regain the momentum in the match and he tried to hit Cena with the Five-Knuckle Shuffle, but Cena countered into the STF. Owens got out of the submission and hit Cena with an AA of his own, but Cena kicked out. There were two more pinfall attempts, but Owens kicked out of both. Cena even hit Owens with a springboard stunner, but Owens kicked out again.

Despite an inverted superplex and a top-rope sent on Cena, Owens still couldn't score a victory until he finally got the advantage when Cena came at him off the ropes as that allowed him to hit the pop-up powerbomb.

Cena finally stayed down for three giving the win to Owens.
