The climax of the SBS drama "Yawang" is approaching.
The SBS drama "Yawang" is one of the hottest dramas of this season. This drama has been gaining attention for the female characters in the role rather than the role of the top star Kwon Sang Woo's character.
Actress So Ae transformed into a femme fatale in her role as Joo Da Hae, who is one of the most evil characters in the history of dramas. Even actress Kim Sung Ryung, in her 40s, is featured as a beautiful woman who clashes with Joo Da Hae. The last female character who is drawing attention is actress Cha Hwa Yeon, who plays a minor character that has never been seen before in any type of drama.
Regardless of the high viewing rates "Yawang" is receiving, there are conflicting opinions about this drama from the viewers. Fans of this drama find "Yawang" very entertaining because of its dramatic storyline that contains love and hate as well as deadly revenge. However, people who already know the story from reading the cartoon are saying comments like, "This drama does not even have the basics down" and that it is "below expectations."
The first episodes of "Yawang" shows Joo Da Hae when she accidentally murders her stepfather. Ha Ryoo (Kwon Sang Woo) who knew about everything, so he helps Joo Da Hae hide the body of her dead stepfather. After the incident, they become lovers and live as husband and wife. They eventually give birth to a baby girl Eun Byul.
Ha Ryoo does hard labor in order to put Joo Da Hae through college. After some time, she is blinded by her desire to get ahead in social status and decides to study abroad, leaving her daughter in the care of Ha Ryoo. Ha Ryoo pays for her schooling with the money he earns from working at a bar.
When Joo Da Hae returns to Korea, another man is by her side. The man is the heir of the Baek Hak Group, Baek Do Hoon (Jung Yun Ho). Joo Da Hae begins working for a respected position at the Baek Hak Group and begins to rapidly climb up the ladder. Baek Do Hoon decides to marry Joo Da Hae, regardless of all the opposition from Baek Hak advisers.
This is when Joo Da Hae begins to create her secret plot to get ahead. While she meets Baek Do Hoon at the airport, her daughter Eun Byul gets hit by a truck and dies instantly. Also, when Joo Da Hae finds out that Baek Do Hoon's older sister is actually his biological mother, she blackmails her in order to get permission for the wedding. Joo Da Hae then kills Ha Ryoo's older brother. Ha Ryoo had recently met his twin older brother after they were separated at birth but they have to say goodbye soon after. Ha Ryoo impersonates his lawyer brother and plans a revenge on Joo Da Hae for all the pain she has caused.
When her past is revealed, she is forced to divorce Baek Do Hoon. Baek Do Hoon falls into a state of panic when he finds out the truth about Joo Da Hae, not to mention the truth about his sister who turned out to be his mother. On the same day, Ha Ryoo records Joo Da Hae's weakness and threatens her in order to get his hands on some confidential Baek Hak Group documents. Ha Ryoo and Joo Da Hae plan to meet for an exchange but Baek Do Hoon arrives at the location earlier than Ha Ryoo and gets killed from the explosives Joo Da Hae planted.
The cartoon "Yawang" was written by Park In Kwon. "Yawang" is the third book of the "Dae Mool" cartoon series. The director Jo Young Kwang made a statement before the beginning of the drama regarding the remake of "Yawang." He had stated, "The original cartoon contains a lot of adult content so there was not much that we could use in the drama" and "we just took the revenge theme and the female character's desire to become the first lady."
Comparing the drama and the original cartoon, it appears that there are pretty similar so far. The ending of the original cartoon contains a bitter ending that is very depressing. Joo Da hae achieves her dreams of becoming the first lady but she eventually falls apart because of Ha Ryoo's revenge. Ha Ryoo then commits suicide in the neighborhood where he was born.
Will the SBS drama "Yawang" have the same ending as the original cartoon?
