Jordan Clarkson emerged the steal of last year's draft after the Los Angeles Lakers purchased the Washington Wizards 46th pick for $1.8 million to choose the 6-5 point guard who ended up being named to the All-Rookie first team.
For the 2015 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers is hoping to follow the same blueprint with its 27th and 34th pick.
According to LA Daily News, Mitch Kupchak and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff have been putting different prospects under the ringer.
"We're hopeful we can find somebody. You look for a young guy who can play right away. Sometimes you can't find it. So you look for a guy that you hope can play in two or three years," he said.
After the All-Star break, Jordan Clarkson averaged 15.8 points, 5 assists and 4.2 rebounds as a starter playing 38 games.
"Kupchak considered Clarkson that special person mostly because he spent three years in college, a stark contrast from the so-called 'one-and-done' players," the article said.
The Los Angeles Lakers also hold the 2nd pick of the 2015 NBA draft and multiple news reports said that the squad is bent on picking either Karl Anthony-Towns or Jahlil Okafor, the projected first and second picks.
Meanwhile, Jordan Clarkson, a half-Filipino, shared photos on his Instagram of his Nike-sponsored trip to the Philippine, a basketball-crazy country located in the Asia-Pacific, along with Trey Burke and Horace Grant.
The Los Angeles Lakers point guard held clinics and visited slums in the Philippines capital to spread the gospel about the NBA.
In a BusinessWorld news, Jordan Clarkson pointed to resiliency as the key to his success.
"It's been a long year for me. I didn't start playing until the second half of the season. I sat on the bench for the first half of the season. Just the toughness. Mentally staying in it and continuing to work," he said.
