“The Big Bang Theory” season 9 spoilers revealed that the coming episodes will focus on Sheldon and Amy’s relationship. The CBS series is set to premiere its ninth season on Sept 21.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 spoilers hinted that Sheldon and Amy could take their relationship to the next level. On the other hand, Leonard and Penny, as well as Raj and Emily, might be taking a step back.

The season 8 finale ended with several cliffhangers: Sheldon getting out an engagement ring, Leonard and Penny having second thoughts about getting married and Raj breaking it off with Emily.

"I don't know how long Sheldon's had that [ring]," executive producer Steve Molaro told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I have an idea but I'm not going to tell you! I don't know if the length of time matters so much as the situation where Amy has taken a legitimate step back that he was not expecting."

The producer further explained that fans of the Sheldon-Amy pairing, fondly called as ShAmy, would not have to worry for they would soon get back together. Rumor has it, the two could actually get married in season 9. Will their wedding happen before Penny and Leonard? Or are they having a double wedding?

"I don't know exactly what's going to happen but Sheldon's clearly fond of her," Molaro told the website. "We don't know exactly where they are but after five years, I think the answer is in the question."

"They have been dating, this is the fifth anniversary of their first date, and she can't even get through a make-out session without him thinking about television, so I understand her frustration."

"At the same time, I understand his side, which is: How much faster do you think I can go with this? It's an interesting place for them to be; it seems very real and I think it's exciting that we're shaking things up," he concluded.
