The penultimate episode of "Producer" aired on June 19, recording 13.4 percent of nationwide viewers. The eleventh episode experienced a decrease of 1.2 percent in viewers from what was previously recorded on June 13. The drama aired an extended episode which examined its complex love lines from the perspective of ratings. Although, the docu-drama genre was slightly abandoned, the penultimate episode incorporated the shooting style to provide interstitial commentary from the main characters.
Many viewers may have hoped that the romantic plots would be completely resolved, but this was less apparent, as the program progressed. The production team for "Producer" previously stated that the love lines would be closely guarded and they have succeeded in leaving viewers guessing until the final scenes.
The following paragraphs will contain spoilers.
Episode 11 kicked off with Tak Ye Jin (Gong Hyo Jin) and Baek Seung Chan (Kim Soo Hyun) on the playground, in their housing complex. Seung Chan bravely kissed her, shocking the senior producer. Ye Jin finally realized that Seung Chan was romantically interested in her and that his feelings extended past those of a co-worker. She was quick to shoot him down, wounding his pride in the process. Her feelings on their relationship initially appear to be cut and dry, until she meets with a member of her office staff to discuss her conflicted emotions. Faced with the realization that she could be leading him on, she rejects him.
Ra Joon Mo (Cha Tae Hyun) struggled throughout the episode, first from the departure of Ye Jin from his home, then from the flagging ratings of "2 Days and 1 Night."
Cindy (IU) continues to harbor a crush on Seung Chan, but she is now realistic in knowing that it is one-sided. However, more significant events were building that could destroy her career. CEO Byun (Na Young Hee) revealed a secret that Cindy quietly harbored since she was 14-years-old. She convinced the child star that the public should not know about the death of her parents, creating a fantastic tale of successful Koreans who relocated to live in Beverly Hills. Cindy is then thrust into a scandal, as she faces the consequences that were brought on by years of lying.
As her scandal escalates, the production staff of "2 Days and 1 Night" are forced to decide whether or not she should be removed from the show. Joon Mo chooses to defend Cindy, as he remembers the ill-fated circumstances of her predecessor, Yuna.
Overall, "Producer" is another successful Korean drama for Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, IU, and Cha Tae Hyun. Fans of the stars are now left to contemplate their next projects.
