Since the release of "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" where he played the role of a young Anakin Skywalker, not much has been reported about former child actor Jake Lloyd. That is, until he was involved in a car chase and got arrested.
According to TMZ, Jake Lloyd was driving in Charleston, South Carolina, when Sheriff's deputies reportedly attempted to pull him over. But instead of stopping, the former child actor reportedly led the police in a high-speed car chase that went on for miles, into another county. Eventually, Lloyd purportedly lost control of the car that went off the road and smashed into a fence and into several trees.
The 26-year-old Anakin Skywalker actor was reportedly arrested and held in custody arrested for reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest, and driving without a license. It is unclear whether the former actor is still in custody as per press time.
USA Today reported that according to Colleton County Sheriff's Sgt. Kyle Strickland, Jake Lloyd gave his name as Jake Broadbent, with the same birthdate that matched the actors' as listed by a movie database as well as a hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado where the actor was born.
According to Variety, Jake Lloyd reportedly claimed in a recent interview that his childhood fame for his "Star Wars" stint purportedly ruined his childhood. The actor also disclosed that he left the movie industry for good. A report published by Daily Mail in 2012 quoted the Anakin Skywalker actor recounting his unfond memories associated with fame.
"Other children were really mean to me," the Anakin Skywalker actor reportedly said in an interview. 'They would make the sound of the light saber every time they saw me. It was totally mad ... My entire school life was really a living hell - and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day."
Aside from George Lucas' "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" where he starred alongside Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, and Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd also appeared in "Jingle All the Way" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and 2005's "Madison," that starred Jim Caviezel and Mary McCormack.
