The Undertaker and Sting were spotted together at the airport and this has added fuel to speculations that the two wrestling legends are scheduled to lock horns in the squared ring next year at WrestleMania.
WWE Universe for years has craved for a match between the "Icon" Sting and "The Deadman" The Undertaker. As soon as the Monday Night War ended, wrestling fans across the globe felt they were getting their dream matchup - Sting Vs. The Undertaker.
The two were destined to square off against each other for more than a decade, however obstructions got in the way of the match occurring.
When WCW folded, Sting did not come to WWE and thus The Icon's avoidance of the squared ring was the number one roadblock. Mark William Calaway ak.a. The Undertaker on the other hand didn't walk out on the WWE even during its underachieving years like Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Hulk Hogan. If he would have, then wrestling history would definitely have a different tale, Inquisitr noted.
In a fascinating discussion about the Monday Night Wars, Tripe H and Sting sat down with Renee Young.
As WWE fans were losing hope, Sting finally signed with the WWE. Then, WWE booked Sting against Tripe H at WrestleMania 31, while the Undertaker squared off against a injured Bray Wyatt. Obviously it wasn't the matches WWE Universe was looking for. Following WrestleMania 31, both Sting and the Undertake went away to their normal lives.
Though WWE's plan for their much-awaited match is still unclear, the two legends reportedly talked over the possibility of meeting at next year's WrestleMania.
"Undertaker shared a locker room backstage with Sting and the two actually shared the same flight back to Texas. There was a lot of 'if we do this' talk between the two about a potential match," PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported.
Sting and the Undertaker were even spotted together at the airport.
But is the upcoming super fight between the Undertaker and Sting coming several years too late?
In 2016, Undertaker will be 51 and Sting will be 57, both are far beyond their primes. However, that will hardly matter to wrestling fans. This is a dream match.
