Ratings increased for the July 2 episode of SBS' "Mask," as the series revealed some of its best-kept secrets. According to Nielsen Korea, episode 12 of "Mask" recorded 11.1 percent of nationwide viewership, an increase of 1.0 percent.
Episode 12 focused on the ill-fated relationship between Min Seok Hoon (Yeon Jeong Hun) and Seo Eun Ha (Soo Ae). While they were previously revealed to be romantically involved, their plot to eradicate Choi Min Woo (Joo Ji Hoon) was discovered by Byeon Ji Sook (Soo Ae).
A large portion of the episode was dedicated to Choi Mi Yeon (Yoo In Young), who discovered that she was having a baby with Seok Hoon. While she was elated, he appeared to be subdued.
Ji Sook and Min Woo grew closer, as he made heartfelt efforts to celebrate the birthday of Eun Ha.
Screenwriter Choi Ho Chul provided brilliant parallels between mother-to-be Mi Yeon and the rebirth of Eun Ha through Ji Sook. Like the previous project of the writer, "Secret Love," "Mask" continues to blur the lines between good and evil characters.
Seok Hoon has been painted as a cold, heartless, sociopath for most of the series, but episode 12 provided a glimpse into his happier times with Eun Ha.
Mi Yeon remained steadfastly focused on bragging about her pregnancy, but she was able to uncover the truth be the identity swap of Eun Ha and Ji Sook. However, she was horrified to discover that she was most likely the cause behind the drowning incident which took the life of Eun Ha, causing great pain to Seok Hoon.
