Tom Cruise is reportedly leaving Scientology for the sake of his daughter, Suri, whom the "Mission Impossible 5" actor had not seen for over a year.
According to Star Magazine, as shared by Hollywood Life, Tom Cruise is hell bent on leaving Scientology and has met lawyers on how to proceed with the separation.
The Hollywood A-lister reportedly arrived at the decision after speaking at length to daughter Suri over the phone.
The source alleged, "She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it. That's when Tom realized he's never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up. It hit him that she's growing up before his eyes and he's not there to witness most of it. They talk on the phone and video chat, but it's not the same."
Tom Cruise and Suri's mother, Katie Holmes, split in 2013 because of his ties with Scientology.
TMZ reported that Tom Cruise admitted as much in a deposition revolving around the $50 million libel suit he filed against a magazine that claimed he abandoned Suri.
"In the deposition ... Cruise squirmed in his chair as the lawyer for the magazine repeatedly asked if Katie fled their marriage because of the Church. Cruise hemmed and hawed, suggesting it wasn't true, and then the lawyer asked whether 'Katie Holmes left you in part to protect Suri from Scientology.'
"Cruise answered: "Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes."
"Cruise also admitted that Suri is NOT a member of Scientology anymore," the report added.
Now, Star tabloid claimed that Tom Cruise is leaving Scientology because of "tremendous pressure" from the group which doesn't want the "Mission Impossible 5" actor to be near them.
The source explained, "If they label Suri a suppressive person (a Scientology term for an enemy of the church), as they've been known to do with dissenters, that would make it hard for Tom to have a relationship with her. He's between a rock and a hard place, but he's finally making a choice to put his daughter first."
