In a shocking news, " Can't Buy Me Love" star Amanda Peterson was found dead in her home in Greeley Colorado on Sunday. The dead body of the actress was discovered after her worried father alerted authorities.

According to a report on Toronto Sun, 43-year-old actress who shot to fame with her portrayal of the bubbly character of Cindy Mancini opposite Patrick Dempsey in the 1987 romantic comedy "Can't Buy Me Love," was found dead in her Colorado home. The dead body was discovered by the police when Amanda's father alerted the authorities and requested them to check her home.

After a string of successful roles in showbiz, Amanda quit the fame business in 1994 and had maintained a low profile since then. Her death has surprised the actor fraternity in the region. Amanda's father informed the authorities after he had not heard from his daughter for days together.

In his statement to TMZ, Amanda's father said that the exact cause of his daughter's death was not yet known. However, her illness and sleep apnea disorder could have contributed to her death.

Her other popular appearances include the 1990s TV series "Jack's Place" and the films, "Listen to Me," "The Lawless Land" and "Explorers." She had started her career at the tender age of 9 years when she stared in a play directed by John Huston and had an extensive portfolio of work by the time she quit in the 90's. Her last time silver screen appearance was in the movie "Windrunner," released way back in 1994.

As confirmed by a report on Boston Globe, Amanda Peterson was discovered dead in her apartment. She was all alone and authorities are still investigating the cause of death, said Sgt. Mike Moran with the Greeley, Colorado, police department. Her dead body was found on Sunday.
