Actress Choi Ji Woo is going to college. The actress will enroll in a new tvN drama called "Second 20s." In that drama the 40-year-old actress will play a 36-year-old mom who goes back to college at the same time her son does.
Choi will play a character named Ha No Ra. When she was young Ha No Ra wanted to be a dancer but she fell in love, married and had a child when she was only 19. After that Ha No Ra focused on raising her family and let her dreams slip away. When her son goes to college, she decides to go back to school. She's accepted into the same college as her son and it's also the same college where her husband is a professor.
Finally getting to enjoy college life might sound like fun but Ha No Ra will have to make some adjustments to campus life and learn to co-exist with her much-younger fellow students. And given the proximity to the rest of her family, the plot is likely to provide plenty of comic scenes. Imagine if your mom went to school with you? Imagine if your husband was your teacher? Things could get complicated and awkward.
But Choi Ji Woo will be able to handle these k-drama complications, as she is known for tackling a variety of challenging roles. Right after she played the robotic housekeeper in "My Suspicious Housekeeper," she played the lonely CEO who seduced the married Kwon Sang Woo in the drama "Tempation." And her ability to master such a range of roles is exactly why the producers wanted her to play the role.
"Choi Ji Woo has played diverse roles in her range of dramas," said the show's producers. "We thought that she was the perfect actress to play the bold and bright Ha No Ra. Fans can definitely look forward to what Choi Ji Woo's second chance as a 20-year-old will look like."
So far the roles of her character's husband and son have not yet been cast. Filming for the tvN drama is scheduled to begin in July after casting is completed. "Second 20s" is scheduled to air in August after the end of "Oh My Ghostess."
So Hyun Kyung, who wrote "Shining Inheritance," "My Daughter Seo Young," and "Prosecutor Princess" will write the screenplay. Kim Hyung Sik, who directed "Secret Door" and "Sign," will direct the drama.
