After much speculation, Jeremy Lin confirmed that he has signed with the Charlotte Hornets for about $4 million after a tumultuous season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Will Linsanity descend in Buzz City along with rookie Frank Kaminsky?
In his Facebook page, Jeremy Lin thanked the Los Angeles Lakers organization and its passionate fans for their support this past season, but he has to move on.
"Going into my first true free agency as an NBA player this off-season, the one thing that mattered to me the most was finding a team that would be a good fit for me," he said.
"I wanted to be on a team where I would be able to play freely and truly play the game I love with joy again. That has always been the most important thing to me."
Under Byron Scott with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeremy Lin only averaged 11.7 points, 4.8 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 26.9 minutes. That's a far cry from his Linsanity days with the New York Knicks where he torched the league for about 20 points and 10 assists.
"My journey has never looked the way I (or anyone else) thought it would, but God has always worked things out for my good and I am confident that he will continue to do so," he wrote.
"I have no idea what is coming next, but I promise I will do everything in my power to contribute to this team and to improve as a player and as a person."
According to 2Paragraphs, Linsanity would fit right in with the rookie Frank Kaminsky to form a one-two punch in Charlotte Hornets.
"If you look at the way Kaminsky is used to playing, at the kind of players he had around him at Wisconsin, it becomes ever more apparent why Jeremy Lin was an attractive pick-up for Jordan's Hornets," the article said.
"Lin brings smart spacing and opportunistic lane penetration -- and he's coming off his best 3-point shooting year, despite other difficulties in LA."
