The latest "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 spoilers revealed that April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson's (Jesse Williams) relationship may come to an end in the coming episodes. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes revealed that the couple may eventually break up after April decided to work overseas.
In the season 11 finale, fans saw Jackson asking April to choose between her career and their relationship. He said that he is done waiting for her and if she decided to take the job in London, then they will be done for good.
In spite of the seemingly bleak future for the couple, Sarah Drew encouraged fans to have faith in the couple. She said that there is still hope that the Jackson and April will work things out.
"We haven't actually broken up. We're left on the precipice. He's given me an ultimatum that gives us room to figure out what's going to happen next season," she told Entertainment Weekly."
"I think this is the first of many conversations. I don't see it as a total breakup, I see it as they're definitely in a really, really rough situation. I don't think that it's the nail on the coffin for them."
"He says if you go, we're done, but April still has to make a choice, so that's where-I guess-we'll pick up next season, but [Shonda Rhimes] could make a different choice."
The actress added that choosing between Jackson and her career is probably one of the hardest decisions that her character April will have to do in her life.
"It's going to be an uphill battle for them to try to find their way back to one another. I really, really hope that they do," she revealed.
"It was very sad shooting that scene. I want them to survive. I want them to find solace in each other. I want them to be able to heal with each other. We'll see where the show takes us in season 12."
