According to TV Line, Fox has confirmed that it is returning with a 10-episode event series of "Prison Break." The fans of the show will be thrilled to see the brothers in the series - Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
Chairman and CEO Gary Newman announced that both Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be brought back in the series. He announced this at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Thursday.
"It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show," said Newman.
"The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. I don't think [exec producer] Paul [Scheuring] knows exactly where he's going over the 10-episode arc, but it definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series for a new audience. I would describe it as a bit of a sequel."
"This is the pure vision of the creator of the show," said Co-Chairman and CEO Dana. "It's going to take a little bit of a detour from where we left off , but it should feel very satisfying and event-ized. Fans will be excited about seeing these characters back together again."
Newman also guaranteed that the plot where Michael perished in 2009's "Prison Break: The Final Break," would not be ignored. Walden explained that what Paul pitched to them is a very logical and believable explanation of why the characters are still alive and moving around the world.
According to the Independent, Fox credited Netflix for the revival. It was through Netflix that the show found a new audience (or a whole lot of repeat watchers). "Prison Break has had this great opportunity to be viewed by a whole new audience [on Netflix] Walden noted.
