Fans waiting for an update on Nina Dobrev's career will be thrilled - according to rumors, the actress is purportedly getting a new showbiz project after her departure from "The Vampire Diaries."

While a lot of previous Nina Dobrev update news focused on how she coped with Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed's engagement, wedding, and now, alleged baby plans, fans of Elena Gilbert may be happy to know that they could be seeing the actress on a television show soon.

Nina Dobrev's career may have slumped after she left "The Vampire Diaries" just a few months after her ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder, and her friend Nikki Reed, got engaged.

Now, Nina's is reportedly getting back on track.

"One of the people who would love to get her hands on a role in True Detective for season three is Nina Dobrev," a source reportedly told Hollywood Life.

"She has told her people to start talking to the right people and to get her into those meetings. She knows she has time since season two has just ended, but she wants to be first in line for when decisions are to be made."

This Nina Dobrev update purportedly impressed not only her fans, but her fellow actors and actresses as well.

"Everyone in Hollywood is clamoring for a role on two shows right now and those shows are True Detective and Empire," the source added.

After not having showbiz projects for quite some time, it seems that Nina Dobrev's time to shine has come once again. In fact, CW executives have expressed their desire to have her back on "The Vampire Diaries."

"We would have loved Nina to stay," CW president Mike Pedowitz said, as quoted by People. "She did a great job for the six years she was on the show. She is welcome back any time she wants to come back."

There are speculations that Nikki Reed would not be happy about the possibility of Ian Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend returning to co-star with him on "The Vampire Diaries."

Even so, with the backing of CW executives, it seems that no one can stop Nina Dobrev from returning to "The Vampire Diaries" - not even Ian Somerhalder, more so Nikki Reed.

Fans will surely be monitoring update news about Nina's career now that she's back in her game.
