Since the upcoming NBC travel variety show "Better Late Than Never" was inspired by the Korean variety show "Grandpas Over Flowers," it seems appropriate that some of the first guests include Hallyu stars.
And that's just what is going to happen. International k-pop stars Girls Generation are set to interact with the five men who will star in the upcoming American adaptation of the program.
The American version of the show will feature celebrities William Shatner, Henry Winkler, George Foreman, Jeff Dye and Terry Bradshaw. According to the American entertainment publication Variety, the travelers will visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Bankok and Chang Mi.
While in Korea they will visit a fortress in Suwon, then stay in the Gangnam neighborhood of Seoul for a few days.
The five stars will have to deal with unfamiliar cultures and rely on each other in places where no one may recognize them as celebrities. They will also have to cope without the usual assistants that celebrities travel with. Each traveler will receive lists of things that he has to accomplish while navigating a foreign environment.
When the travelers visit Seoul, they are also scheduled to visit the SMTOWN COEX Artium. That's where they will interact with the members of the popular girl group Girls Generation.
The American celebrity travelers will not only meet the k-pop stars but also receive a quick introduction to k-pop and the Hallyu.
It won't be the first time that Girls Generation has appeared on American television. They appeared on the CBS program "Late Show With David Letterman" and the ABC program "Live With Kelly." Girls Generation also won 'Music Video of the Year' at the 2013 YouTube Music Awards.
The group recently performed at KCON NY 2015 in Newark, New Jersey.
"Better Late Than Never" has been in the works for over a year but an airdate has not yet been decided. During the next few weeks Girls Generation will also actively promote their fifth album. They will appear on the KBS program "Music Bank" on August 21.
