The latest "Downtown Abbey" season 6 spoilers hinted that the mystery of Mr. Green's (Nigel Harman) death will be addressed in the coming episodes.
"We do see the mystery behind Mr. Green's death resolved," Joanne Froggatt told Deadline.
The actress may have refused to reveal further spoilers for "Downtown Abbey" season 6 but hinted that discovering what happened to Mr. Green may not be necessarily a good thing for the Bates.
"We get to the bottom with what exactly happened, and as always, there's quite a lot of drama for Anna and Mr Bates in season six."
"There are always bits of happiness there for them as well, but it's never easily attained, so we sort of carry on in that vein to finish off."
As reported by the International Business Times, the rape scene that featured Frogatt and Harman gained multiple criticisms from viewers. The scene may not have shown the actual assault, but the violence depicted was enough to make the fans cringe.
Frogatt shared that the entire cast and crew of "Downtown Abbey" has been very supportive of her while filming the controversial rape scene back in 2013.
"We are a true ensemble and 'Downtown' is a show that there are characters either supporting or leading a scene," she told the publication.
"We all have a share in both of those roles equally and that's what makes it so nice."
"I absolutely had the utmost support when it was my turn to lead that scene. Vice versa, you do it for your fellow actors."
The actress won a Golden Globe under the Best Supporting Actress in a TV series for her role as Anna Bates early this year.
"I thought [creator] Julian Fellowes wrote the emotional journey of the character extremely well, and as an actress it was great to do something challenging in the fourth season of a show," she told Huffington Post.
