Park Gun Tae To Play Young Kim Beom In “Goddess of Fire.”

Casting for the upcoming historical drama, "Goddess of Fire," is now complete with actor Park Gun Tae signing on to play the younger version of Kim Beom's character, Kim Tae Do.

Beom recently confirmed that he is going to play Kim Tae Do, a character who excels at martial arts and provides the love interest for the royal potter Yoo Jeong, played by Moon Geun Young. Kim Tae Do has known Yoo Jeong since they were children. He has always protected her and nurtures her talent.

Actress Jin Ji Hee, who played the young Min Hwa in "Moon Embracing the Sun," will play the young Yoo Jeong.

It's not the first time that Park Gun Tae has played in a drama with Beom as he portrayed his younger brother in "East of Eden." The young star has a few films and a dozen dramas to his credit including, "Iris 2," "May Queen," "King 2 Hearts" and "Warrior Baek Dong Soo." The actor won a 2008 MBC Drama Special Child Actor Award for his performance in "East of Eden" and a 2012 Special Child Actor Award for "King 2 Hearts" and "May Queen."

The 32-episode drama,"Goddess of Fire, is slated to follow "Gu Family Book." The drama is inspired by the story of real-life 16th century historical and cultural figure, Baek Pa Sun. She was the first female ceramic artist in Joseon times. The artist's glazing skills were so prized, she was appointed as a china maker for the royal family. But her fame also resulted in her becoming a prize for Japanese invaders. She was one of many Korean artisans who were captured during the Japanese invasion in 1592. While held in Japan, she helped create many new types of pottery that would be claimed as Japanese works of art.

Other members of the cast include Lee Sang Yoon as Prince Gwanghee. Lee recently appeared in the drama, "My Daughter, Seo Young." Park Gun Hyung will recently appeared in "I Do, I Do," will play Lee Yook Do, the eldest son of a pottery making family and Yoo Jeong's primary competition. Lee Kwang Soo, who appeared in "Innocent Man" and "City Hunter," will play Prince Imhae. The drama will also star Han Go Eun, Jun Kwang Ryul and Song Ok Sook.

Screenwriter Kwon Soon Gyo also wrote the saeguk "Warrior Baek Dong Soo."
