"Fashion Police" fans may have anticipated the return of the show, with Melissa Rivers sitting in for her late mother, Joan Rivers.
Last Monday, "Fashion Police" once again went on air to analyze the fashion choices of those who attended the MTV Video Music Awards. Melissa Rivers, along with Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, examined the outfits paraded on the red carpet of the awards show.
However, there are rumors that "Fashion Police" return was a flop ratings-wise.
"It is clear that the show doesn't work anymore, and rather than spend more time trying to fix it, producers are ready to cancel it," a source reportedly told Naughty Gossip. "It has become a problem for the network and they just want it to go away."
Melissa Rivers may have tried all her best to return "Fashion Police" to its original glory, but many viewers think that it's impossible to bring the life back to the program after Joan Rivers passed away.
"Since Joan Rivers' death, Fashion Police has not been the same," Celeb Dirty Laundry reported. "First, the network tried to replace the late Rivers with host Kathy Griffin - and viewers were unimpressed.
"Then there was the whole Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic drama, plus the racist comments about Zendaya - which did not go over well with viewers,
"E! was really banking on Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa, to bring the show back to life this season, but the ratings are in and it is pretty clear that no one cared about Joan's legacy taking over, or the VMA red carpet dresses," it added.
Meanwhile, "Fashion Police" former host Kelly Osbourne congratulated Melissa Rivers on the first night of the show's return.
"Congratulations on an awesome show tonight!" Kelly wrote in a tweet, as quoted by Daily Mail.
Joan River's daughter responded by tweeting: "I love you!!! The flowers are amazing and you owned the lavender carpet! Xxx #friends #mysister."
