It's a name worthy of a Cumberbatch.
"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter reportedly named their son, Christopher Carlton, which People described as "the most dapper moniker of them all."
According to the magazine, the middle name Carlton by Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter's three-month-old is a familly tradition that has been passed down through generations. His father carried the name, and so does the "Sherlock" actor.
The couple values their privacy so much, but also recognizing that he has a lot of fans pining for some information on his personal life.
Just like when he announced their wedding, as well as her pregnancy, the announcement to reveal the birth of Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch was also short.
A rep for the couple said, "Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son. We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks."
It's reminiscent of the announcement that Sophie Hunter was pregnant when their rep issued a statement in January this year that read, "I am delighted to confirm that Benedict and Sophie are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon."
The couple reportedly rushed their wedding to make sure they are already married before the baby arrived.
According to the report from Sunday Mirror, because of the time constraints, the 38-year-old chucked the traditional sending of wedding invites by post, and just emailed friends about the wedding to Sophie Hunter.
"It's shocked a few people but they want their special day to happen before they have the baby," the source said. "The details have been sent out in an email rather than a paper invitation as time is of the essence."
Benedict Cumberbatch announced his engagement to Sophie Hunter by running an add on a paper, which is a British tradition for couples.
